Distribution of Emissions

Only large, distinct plumes can be traced to a specific point of origin. Here, we map the origins of __*all*__ emissions onto a gridded heat map, using a statistical model that includes weather data. 

Many grid cells show relatively low emission rates, yet together, these cells can account for significant emissions. This map: 

* Shows emissions that may be from any type of source or industry.
* Is based on a single observation. Explore the timeline of multiple observations for a more robust picture of emissions.
* Is supplemented by our other data layers for context – oil and gas infrastructure and the satellite basemap.
